A stretch tent is a flexible bit of kit. One canvas shapes to almost any space, so you rarely need a second structure or much extra decor, and it goes up and comes down faster than a traditional marquee. Ceremony, dinner and dancing all happen under the same sweeping roof, and that open, modern shape brings its own elegance.

How it works
Hiring a stretch tent, start to finish.
You book the stretch tent direct with us, one tent and one straightforward booking. If your wedding also wants somewhere for guests to stay over, we can add a village of pre-pitched bell tents to the same job, with no second delivery charge, and put it all on one combined quote.

Agree the event
Date, venue, size and any extras. A delivery-fee deposit holds the date.

We deliver and set up
Crew arrives a day or two before and sets the tent to your site, lighting tested and ready.

We take it down after
Once the celebration is over we come back and take everything away, usually the day after, no rush on you.

Pair the stretch with our pre-pitched bell tents and your guests sleep a few steps from the party, with real beds available to add. The bell tents run on our free guest booking system, so each guest picks and pays for their own. We quote the two together.

Common questions.
What is a stretch tent?
Tensioned canvas held up by lightweight aluminium poles and steel ground anchors, with no rigid frame. The canvas stretches across the poles to create a freeform sculptural shape, very different from the rectangular box of a traditional marquee. Sometimes called a stretch marquee, Bedouin tent, or freeform marquee.
How is a stretch tent different from a marquee?
A marquee is a rigid aluminium-frame box with vertical walls. A stretch tent has no frame, just canvas held up by poles and pegged at multiple anchor points. The result: stretch tents shape to your site (against buildings, on slopes, around awkward corners) rather than forcing the site to fit the tent. They also handle wind better and look more sculptural.
Can a stretch tent attach to a building?
Yes, that is one of the biggest practical differences from a marquee. Because there is no rigid frame, we can anchor a stretch tent against an existing wall or building, or shape it to an irregular plot. Send a photo of your venue and we will talk through the rigging options.
How many wedding guests fit under each size?
Small (7m × 10.5m): 70 standing, 50 seated for dinner, around 40 seated once you allow for a dance floor. Medium (10.5m × 15m): 150 standing, 120 seated, around 90 seated with a dance floor. For 100-guest weddings the Medium seats everyone for dinner; if you want all 100 seated and a dance floor too, you want the Large: two Mediums laced together along their long edge, 15m × 21m, 240 seated with room for the floor.
Can stretch tents go on uneven ground?
Yes. The tensioned canvas and ground-anchored design adapts to undulating ground better than a marquee. Add Dandy Dura matting if you want a level interior floor for dancing.
How much space do you need, and will it fit our venue?
Allow a little more than the canvas itself for the guy lines and ground anchors. A Small (7m × 10.5m) wants roughly 9m × 13m of clear space, a Medium (10.5m × 15m) about 13m × 18m, a Large (15m × 21m) about 18m × 24m. Send a photo or rough measurements of the spot and we will tell you what fits.
Can it go on a patio, gravel or hard standing, not just grass?
Yes. On grass we peg into the ground; on hard surfaces like patios, gravel or courtyards we anchor with weighted ballast instead. Tell us the surface when you enquire so we bring the right kit.
Can we use a stretch tent in cooler months, not just summer?
Yes. Add flooring to lift you off cold ground and patio heaters or heat lamps to take the edge off, and a stretch tent works well into the shoulder seasons. For colder dates tell us early so we can talk through heating and the right setup for the forecast.
Are stretch tents waterproof and wind-resistant?
Yes to both. The canvas is engineered for UK weather and the low-profile tensioned design handles wind better than marquees of equivalent size. We rig conservatively in exposed venues and design the canopy to shed rain off the right edges.
Do you provide tables, chairs, dance floor or styling?
Tent, flooring, lighting and heating come from us. For tables, chairs, lounge furniture, dance floors and event styling we will put you on to the people we would use ourselves, we have worked alongside enough caterers, florists and furniture-hire companies to know who is good.
Can the stretch tent double as a ceremony space and a dinner space?
Yes. Most wedding stretch hires get used twice: ceremony, then a flip while guests are at drinks reception, then dinner in the same tent. The layout flexes more than a marquee will. Talk us through your timeline and we will sketch how the room can transition.
Can we also have bell tents for guest accommodation?
Yes. The stretch tent + bell tent village combination is one of our most-asked setups. The stretch hosts ceremony and dinner, the bell tents give guests a proper bed for the night. Bell tents run through our free guest booking system so each guest picks and pays for their own. Ask for the combined wedding bell tent + stretch quote.
How does setup and takedown work?
Crew arrives one or two days before the wedding so there is no last-minute stress. Pack-down is the day after, late morning where possible, so guests do not feel rushed out. Setup and takedown are included in the tent price.
What about power for lighting and band/DJ?
Festoon lighting needs around 1kW per tent. Most wedding venues have a mains point we can run a cable to (we carry around 50m of cabling). For off-grid sites we can recommend silent battery units or generators sized to your power load. Tell us about the band/DJ requirements early.
How far in advance should I book?
Summer Saturdays book up 6 to 18 months out. As soon as your venue is confirmed, lock in the tent. Smaller midweek or off-season weddings are usually workable on shorter notice.
How do we secure our date?
We pencil you in at no cost as soon as you ask. To lock the date in, we invoice you for the delivery fee, which acts as the booking deposit.
How does payment work?
25% deposit confirms the booking. 25% at 6 weeks before the wedding. Final balance, based on confirmed add-ons, 14 days before. Single invoice, single payment schedule, organiser-led.
Where do you deliver to?
Most UK venues with reasonably flat-or-undulating ground. Distance is from our base near York. Delivery is calculated on driving time and is a separate line on the quote.

Family-run, from Yorkshire.
The Glamping Group was launched by Max and Ruby in 2020. We started with just two bell tents and have since worked on hundreds of events, from festivals and weddings to parties and corporate days, right across the UK, building glamping villages for up to 500 guests. Still the two of us at the helm, still doing it because we love it.
