On the ground

Pitching a stretch tent in the Peak.

High ground, thin soil over limestone and gritstone, and weather that turns quickly. We anchor for the worst forecast, pitch out of the prevailing wind where the site allows, and check peg depth on site before the canopy goes up.

About ninety minutes each way, so the build is the day before as standard and the strike is the day after. Two runs in a weekend are fine at this range.

Run by Max and Ruby from a base near Malton, 300+ events since 2020. Send a photo of the spot and a postcode and we will tell you what will fit and how we would rig it.

Marquee hire in Buxton?

We hire stretch tents. Same job, different shape.

A marquee is a rigid aluminium frame with vertical walls and a fixed rectangular footprint. It wants level ground, or a subfloor to make the ground level, and the site has to suit the rectangle.

A stretch tent is tensioned canvas held on aluminium poles and steel ground anchors, with no rigid frame. It shapes to your site: around trees, tight against a wall or a building, down a slope, across a plot that is not square. It sits lower, so it handles wind well, and it looks like a sculpture rather than a shed.

Prices start at £995 inc VAT fully set up, and a Medium at £1,750 covers 120 seated. If a framed marquee really is the right answer for your event, we will say so.

Add-ons

Pick what you need.

All inc VAT, all optional. Add them to any size.

Flooring & lighting

£350

Dandy Dura matting plus festoon lights inside and around the perimeter, as one bundle. Levels uneven ground, keeps drinks upright, kinder to heels.

Patio heaters

£100 each

Tall gas heaters for the open sides. Two covers a Medium comfortably on a shoulder-season evening.

Heat lamps

£50 each

Overhead lamps for seating areas and bars. Keeps the gathering going long past sunset.

Festoon lighting needs around 1kW per tent, so you will want a generator or a venue hookup. We will talk that through before the day.

Somewhere for guests to sleep

Add bell tents in Buxton.

A stretch tent gives you the gathering space. Bell tents give everyone somewhere to sleep on site, so nobody is booking taxis at midnight. From £159 per tent fully set up. Beds, bedding and towels are optional add-ons, and guests can book and pay for their own tent through a free booking page.

FAQs

Stretch tent hire in Buxton, asked often.

How much is stretch tent hire in Buxton?

£995 for the Small (7m × 10.5m), £1,750 for the Medium (10.5m × 15m) and £3,500 for the Large (15m × 21m), all inc VAT with setup and takedown included. Delivery to Buxton is 1.5 hr · £200 from our York and Malton base.

Do you actually cover Buxton?

Yes. Buxton sits in our 1.5 hr drive band from York and Malton, so delivery is 1.5 hr · £200. The kit and the crew are the same wherever we go; distance only changes the delivery cost.

How many people fit under one?

Small takes 70 standing or 50 seated. Medium takes 150 standing or 120 seated. Large takes 300 standing, 240 seated, or 180 with a dance floor in. If you are between two sizes, tell us the running order and we will say which one works.

Stretch tent, marquee or tipi, which is right?

A marquee is a rigid aluminium frame with vertical walls and a fixed rectangle footprint. A tipi is a pole-and-canvas cone with a distinctive peak and a fixed circular footprint. A stretch tent is tensioned canvas on aluminium poles and ground anchors, with no rigid frame, so it takes the shape of your site. We hire stretch tents. If a framed marquee or a tipi is genuinely the right call for your event, we will tell you.

Will it cope with the weather in Buxton?

Yes, and up on the tops it gets tested. Waterproof canvas, low tensioned profile, and we check peg depth on site because thin soil over rock changes how we anchor.

Do you provide furniture, tables and chairs?

Tent, flooring, lighting and heating come from us. For tables, chairs, lounge furniture and styling we will put you on to suppliers we have worked alongside and would use ourselves.

Can we have bell tents for guests as well?

Yes, and the two go together well: a stretch tent for the gathering, bell tents for the people staying over. Beds and bedding are add-ons, never inside the tent price. Guests can book and pay for their own tent through a free booking page, so you are not chasing money.

How far in advance should we book?

Summer Saturdays go early. For a wedding or a festival, 6 to 18 months out is normal. Smaller events are usually fine at 1 to 3 months.
