How to plan your wedding day timeline
- Start with the times you’ve booked. Enter the ceremony start and the venue’s finish time.
- Allow time for the parts in between. Add the ceremony, drinks, photographs, food and anything else you’ve planned. Include travel if you’re changing venues.
- Check the order. Speeches can go before or after the meal. Move sections with the arrows and add breaks where you need them.
- Agree it with your suppliers. Check access, serving times and the photography plan before sharing the finished schedule.
A 2pm wedding ceremony timeline
This editable template starts with a 14:00 ceremony, 90 minutes for drinks and photographs, and a two-hour meal. Those are starting allowances, not rules for every wedding.

For a 1pm or 3pm ceremony, change the start time in the planner. The sections move with it, while your venue’s finish time stays fixed.
How much time should you leave?
Venue examples are a useful starting point. Heaton House Farm’s civil ceremony schedule includes a half-hour ceremony and two hours for the wedding meal. Tyn Dwr Hall’s timing guide allows 90 minutes to two hours for drinks.
Your ceremony, menu and guest numbers may need different timings. Ask your photographer about daylight and group photos. Add time for travel, getting everyone seated and any room changes; the tool won’t add these for you.
Getting ready and guest arrival can overlap. The main schedule runs one section after another, so put things happening together in one section, such as drinks and photographs.
Common questions
Is the wedding timeline planner free?
Yes, including printing and downloads. There’s no sign-up. We also hire bell tents and stretch tents, which is why you’ll see links to those services.
Can I change the wedding schedule template?
Yes. Rename sections, change their length, move them or remove them. The first section stays at your ceremony time. Undo restores your last change.
What if we finish after midnight?
Choose “Next day” beside the finish time. After-midnight sections are labelled in the schedule and downloads.
Can we have speeches during the meal?
Yes. Rename the meal section “Meal and speeches” and allow enough time for both, then remove the separate speeches section. Or split the meal into courses and add speeches between them.
Does it save automatically?
No. Choose “Save in this browser” or download an editable file before leaving. Browser saves can disappear when browser data is cleared. The text and PDF copies are for reading; the editable file can be opened in this tool.
Are our notes sent to you?
The planner keeps your title, notes and schedule in your browser, unless you download and share them yourself. With analytics consent, we measure actions such as printing or following a hire link, without including your written notes or schedule.
